This past year has seen the completion of several projects for the Firehouse. The brick terrace was constructed with granite wall caps and bronze railings providing an impressive entrance to the old brick firehouse. The inscribed bricks were placed on the patio and the handicap access ramp was installed as well.
A new storage shed entirely built and paid for by volunteers was constructed behind the firehouse providing valuable space for the group. Concrete rear steps and railings were installed as well. In the basement, a heating system and a sump pump were installed.
A new steel stairwell was constructed in the tower and lights, fire alarm and sprinkler system were installed as well.
The old staircase has been removed to make way for the elevator shaft and the HVAC system is presently being installed on the second floor.
Inside in the performing space, theatre lights, a screen and HD DVD projection system and 9 speakers were installed. A sound/lighting booth was constructed on top of the custodian closet. All of these projects have greatly enhanced the professionalism of our live productions and children’s classes and the screen has enabled us to show classic movies for our Friday Films at the Firehouse series.
Upcoming projects include the construction of an elevator shaft and with ongoing fundraising, the installation of an elevator to the upper floors which will then be renovated as well to maximize the use of the firehouse for all of our many ongoing activities.
