2017 Youth Theater Programs

 Summer 2017

Marblehead Children’s Summer Theatre
is our newest Children’s Theatre Program created for children ages 7 to 15 year old.

This two week session runs runs Monday-Friday, July 3 though July 14 (except July 4) from 8:50 am-3:00 pm

Our young actors will produce and perform Disney’s 101 Dalmatians Kids culminating in a dress rehearsal on Friday, July 14 at 2:00pm, and two fully staged performances on Saturday, July 15 at 12:00pm and at 3:00pm.

Our younger students will be introduced to the theatre arts while our more experience students will be challenged to develop their performance skills. Fun and games with real instruction, we will explore all aspects of production, design, movement and acting.

During classes, students will be broken up into age groups and travel together to their acting, dance, and music classes.  After lunch, we will all come together to work on the production.

Ali Mahon, MLT Director of Youth Programming

Ali Mahon began her community theatre experience back in the Poconos in Pennsylvania at the Pocono Playhouse where she could be seen doing everything from being on the stage performing to ushering to running the concession stand. From there, she attended Emerson College receiving a B.A. for Theatre Education and later Lesley University where she received her M.Ed. for Integrating the Arts into the Curriculum. For over ten years she has been the middle school drama teacher in Saugus, MA where she teaches sixth-eighth grade students during the day and runs the after school drama club, which regularly has more than 100 members. During the past summer months Ali has been the Senior Camp Director for the Chestnut Hill School Creative Arts & Sports Program. Ali also assists with “Stone and Compass” where she travels with students to Bulgaria to help make cross cultural connections.

Terrie Bater, Dance Instructor & Choreographer, has been dancing since she was 2 years old.  She began at Miss William’s school of Ballet in Malden with E. Virginia Williams, founder of the Boston Ballet.  She danced at various schools on the North Shore until her teen years when she began dancing at the Chiampa Dance Center in Lynnfield where she can still be found tapping and twirling around.   Terrie attended Emerson College in Boston, where she earned her B.F.A. in Dance and her M.A. in Theatre Education.  She has choreographed for local community theatre, middle school and high school theatre productions.  Currently, she is an ELA Teacher at the Belmonte Middle School in Saugus and is also the Owner/Director of the Chiampa Dance Center in Lynnfield.

Justin Leusner Jones. Music Instructor and Music Director, is excited to get to work with all the young and aspiring actors in the MLT Youth Theatre program! Recently Justin has been the musical director for Murder In The Knife Room and Sideways Stories From Wayside School. Other pit credits include Shrek: The Musical and Assassins. When he is not working on a show, Justin is the elementary and high school band director in Saugus, where is has taught for the past 8 years. Calling himself the “bookends,” Justin enjoys watching students grow from the 4th graders he begins with to mature musicians in high school. Justin received his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance at the University of Southern Maine and is working towards his M.F.A. at the University of Connecticut.
