Auditions: Sunday, March 15th by appointment.
Walk ins will be seen as time allows.
Vocal Auditions 1:00pm–2:30pm OR 3:30pm–5:00pm
All Actors should sign up for a singing time slot and be prepared to attend a dance call from 2:45pm – 3:30pm.
Auditions will take place at the Jewish Community Center of the North Shore, 4 Community Rd, Marblehead, MA
Callbacks: Tuesday, March 17th from 6:00PM – 9:00PM
Callbacks will take place at Marblehead Little Theatre, 12 School St. Marblehead, MA
Please Prepare a verse and chorus of a contemporary rock song in the style of Alanis Morissette. Songs from the show are welcome but not required. Sheet music should be brought to the audition; an accompanist will be provided.
For the dance call, actors should bring comfortable clothing and shoes that allow for movement. A short contemporary combination in the style of the show will be taught.
Rehearsal Schedule:
May 11 – June 18
Monday through Thursdays: 6:30 – 9:00 PM
Sundays: 1:00 – 5:00 PM
Not everyone will be needed at each rehearsal.
Tech week rehearsals will run 6:00 – 10:00 PM.

About the Show: Inspired by Alanis Morissette’s groundbreaking album, this Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical dives into themes of identity, addiction, trauma, healing, and connection in modern America.
Centered around the seemingly perfect suburban Healy family, the show explores mental health, sexual assault, opioid addiction, race, gender identity, and the pressures of social media. Featuring iconic songs such as “You Oughta Know,” “Hand in My Pocket,” “Ironic,” and “Uninvited,” this powerful contemporary musical demands emotionally fearless storytelling.

Principal Roles
Mary Jane Healy (Female, 40’s, White) An affluent mother in CT, who is addicted to painkillers after a car crash and has a strained relationship with her husband, Steve. MJ also pressures her children to be perfect to maintain the family’s image in the community. Strong Pop/Rock belter F3-F5
Steve Healy (Male, 40’s, White) Mary Jane’s husband, emotionally distant, the father of the family, struggling with his own addiction. Strong Pop/Rock Singer A3-A5
Nick Healy (Male, to play 18, White) The biological son of the family, a star Athlete finishing his Senior year of high school who has just been accepted to Harvard. Strong Pop/Rock Tenor D#4-A#5
Frankie Healy (Female, to play 16, Black) The adopted Black daughter of the family, who is struggling to find her place in the community and deal with her racial identity. Frankie is also involved in a love triangle with her best friend, Jo, and a new boy at school, Phoenix. Strong pop/rock singer F#3-F#5
Jo (AFAB, to play 16, any ethnicity) Frankie’s best friend and partner, who is queer and dealing with the restrictions of their religious upbringing. Jo is on a journey to explore their gender identity and queerness. This role is listed as assigned female at Birth in the script. Strong pop/rock belter E3-G5
Phoenix (Male, to play 16, any ethnicity) Transfer student that becomes Frankie’s love interest. Strong pop/rock belter E4-Bb5
Bella (Female, to play 18, any ethnicity) A free-spirited and outspoken student whose world is shaken after surviving sexual assault. Her story becomes central to the show’s emotional core. Strong Pop/rock singer F#3-A5
Ensemble All Genders, 16+ The ensemble plays students, parents, doctors, protestors, community members, and social media voices. Strong singers and movers who are comfortable with grounded, emotionally vulnerable storytelling. Several featured vocal moments throughout.
