Partnership with Autism Speaks

Benefit Performance Jan. 25 at 7:30 PM

Marblehead Little Theatre is thrilled to partner with Autism Speaks and donate a portion of our proceeds from the opening night performance to the organization. The mission statement of Autism Speaks includes dedication to support the needs of individuals with autism and their families "through advocacy, increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism spectrum disorder, and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions."

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, examines the life of a boy with autism (Christopher Boone), his family, and the world around him. The audience enjoys an intimate, sensory experience through the eyes of Christopher, living life stimulated in the way that he experiences it every day. It's through providing this experience with our audiences that we hope to increase understanding, acceptance, and awareness of autism.

Sensory Friendly Performance February 2 at 2:00 pm

Sensory friendly performances allow everyone to experience the art of theater with an emphasis on meeting the needs and sensitivities of our audiences. Elements which may pose as barriers to the enjoyment of the performance are altered to meet these needs. These alterations may include lowering of volume/heightened moments of intensity, raising levels of lighting, eliminating strobe effects, and allowing for flexibility of audience movement, verbal reactions, and other traditional/expected audience behaviors.
